Sewanee announces head coaching change (Division III Football Coaching Changes)

Andy McCollum has been relieved of duties as the head coach at Sewanee, the school has announced.

McCollum's debut season of 2022 saw the Tigers go 3-7 -- the program's most wins since 2018 -- and ended a 23-game conference losing streak. But McCollum fell short of progressing the program from there; the club went 2-8 in 2024 and sits at 3-6 on the season. Sewanee has lost five of its last six contests, including a 28-0 decision to Centre College on Saturday. The university noted that the Tigers lost all five home games this season. Overall, McCollum exits the school with an 8-22 record.

"Coach McCollum brought a wealth of experience and a deep passion for developing young men through the game of football," AD John Shackelford said. "We are grateful for his leadership and the dedication he and his staff have shown to our student-athletes. As we look ahead, we remain committed to building a program that reflects Sewanee's values of excellence, integrity, and perseverance on and off the field."

Offensive coordinator Tracy Malone will serve as interim head coach while a national search is underway. The Tigers conclude their season Saturday at Millsaps College.
