Colorado: The University of Colorado at Boulder, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Performance Program is accepting applications for the 2014 Fall Semester Sports Performance Internship. Qualifications: Ideal candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science, or related field of study. Must possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to be open to new ideas and possess a strong desire to enter the Sports Performance field, particularly at the collegiate level. Current certification, or working towards certification with the NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa. CSCCa mentorship program is available to those pursuing the SCCC certification. CPR certification/renewal can be attained during the internship. Preferred candidates will have experience in a team training setting, be able to lead groups large and small and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of student athletes. Intern will be assigned tasks, duties, readings and projects related to Sports Performance. Projects and assignments must be completed in a timely manner, with the utmost responsibility, care and professionalism. Successful candidates must possess and demonstrate a strong attention to detail. Compensation: This is an unpaid voluntary position. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience at a highly competitive Division 1 Pac-12 institution. The curriculum is structured and designed to prepare candidates to advance a career in the Sports Performance field. Athletic apparel will be provided when available. Tennessee Chattanooga: The department of Athletic Performance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is currently accepting applications for the position of assistant director of athletic performance. This is a full time, full benefits position. The position will be responsible for the design and implementation of all aspects of athletic performance for women’s basketball, softball, and women’s tennis, as well as, overseeing and implementing all intern and continuing education programs. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Certification through CSCCa preferred; CSCS will be considered. Must have 2+ years of relevant experience in NCAA Division I athletic performance/strength and conditioning. New Mexico: The University of New Mexico Football Athletic Performance Department is now accepting applications for a Volunteer Intern Athletic Performance Coach for the Fall of 2014 (Football). The internship begins August 18th and ends December 12th. This position is unpaid. However, this position offers an opportunity for advancement in both hands on experience and knowledge in regards to the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree based on circumstance. The candidate selected will have the unique opportunity to count as one of the five NCAA eligible strength and conditioning coaches for the UNM Football Athletic Performance department. The intern that is selected will also have the opportunity for Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) mentorship practicum hours as it relates to the SCCC certification process. Daily responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, assistance in the supervision of the University of New Mexico Football team set up and breakdown for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning, supplementation distribution and organization of the training facility. Characteristics required of an intern include great work ethic, strong desire to enhance knowledge of strength and conditioning, attention to detail, punctuality, and accountability. Jacksonville University (FCS - FL): Per source, assistant strength coach Carlo Arse has left Jacksonville University. Arse worked with Men's and Women's basketball and baseball. A search has begun for his replacement.
