Take a look at what the top programs get from Nike, Adidas, and UA

Matthew Kish over at the Portland Business Journal compiled some interesting research on athletic departments and their apparel contracts with Nike, Adidas and Under Armour.

Over half of the 125 top athletic programs that Kish initially targeted ended up sending in contracts and other interesting nuggets, which includes a total of $125 million in merchandise and apparel for 2013 alone.

The largest contract in his entire database was Michigan's deal with Adidas. The Wolverines get $4.4 million in equipment and apparel, and another $3.8 million in cash annually from the apparel giant. To put that number in perspective, Oregon gets $2.8 million from Nike.

While these numbers obviously cover the entire athletic department, it does provide an interesting look at some of the money driving the biggest, most successful athletic programs in the country.

See the full database here, where you can also search by university, conference, or company, and dig deeper into some of the finer details of the contracts.
