Catawba (D-II - NC): Catawba College is seeking applications for ONE UNPAID Strength and Conditioning Internship opportunity beginning August 15th, 2016 until December 8th, 2016. The position will assist with Football, Olympic Sports, as well as the opportunity to train one to two teams, men and women, based on experience level. Preferred applicants must be highly motivated, have a tremendous work ethic, and be interested in becoming a Strength/Performance Coach. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Strength Staff in all aspects of program administration. The position requires working directly with student athletes to teach proper lifting technique, assess and document progress of the student athletes during training, and maintain a clean, sanitized weight room. As an intern within Catawba Strength & Conditioning, you will follow a protocol that allows you to learn how to: learn and teach proper lifting position and technique, research relevant training modalities, create exercise banks, develop training programs and manipulate those programs based on time of year, sport-specificity, exercise progression, training age, and available equipment. All interns, if applicable, will have the opportunity for credit towards graduation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related major. A Nationally accredited certification is preferred, NSCA/CSCCa/USAW. Interns MUST be CPR/AED certified. Those seriously interested should send an email according to the following instructions. Luther College (D-III - IA): William Penn (NAIA - IA) graduate assistant Alli Jenicke has accepted a job as an assistant strength coach at Luther.

William Penn (NAIA - IA): William Penn University (NAIA- Oskaloosa, IA) is currently accepting applications for a PAID Strength & Conditioning Fellowship. This is a 12 month position starting August 22nd. There will be a $6,000 stipend attached to the position along with continuing education opportunities such as attending conferences and clinics. At the end of the position, there is a possibility of continuing on as a Graduate Assistant. Responsibilities include assisting with the design and implementation for a variety of William Penn University’s collegiate sports. The qualified candidate will be assigned sports based on his/her background and experience. The position will also assist the Head Strength & Conditioning coach, help with maintenance of the Randleman Fitness Center, and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Proven knowledge and experience with sport specific strength, speed, and agility programs is necessary. Candidates must hold a BA/BS in exercise science or a health related field and be working toward certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association, SCCC through the CSCCa, and/or hold a USAW-Sports Performance Certificate. Candidates must hold a minimum 3.0 GPA within their undergraduate field of study. Candidates with an athletic background or experience (volunteer/intern) in a collegiate strength and conditioning program is preferred. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and have the ability to effectively work with student athletes, the sports medicine staff, administrators and sport coaches.
