Miami (FL): The University of Miami is currently accepting applications for Summer & Fall 2016 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Football & Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting The U Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the summer and fall program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. Missouri: The University Of Missouri Department Of Athletic Performance is now accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Intern. There is no monetary compensation provided, however, the aforementioned internship is a learning opportunity that qualifies as practical experience toward the 9 months or 640 hours required toward SCCC certification with the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association as well as theoretical and practical experience that can be applied to CSCS certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assistance of supervision for daily activities, set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance, weekly educational projects and reports, and assistance with execution of workout design and implementation for various sports. All prospective interns are expected to have an interest in advancing in a career in athletic performance. Prospects should have outstanding work ethic, energy, enthusiasm and attention to detail. Individuals chosen for this position are subject to university background checks and will possess or be in the process of obtaining CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Wisconsin-Whitewater (D-III): University of Wisconsin - Whitewater is looking to hire an assistant sport performance coach / lecturer.
