Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Chuck Noll passed away in his Pittsburgh-area home on Friday night. He was 82.
Noll is best known for his extended tenure as the Pittsburgh Steelers' head coach, guiding the franchise to a 193-148-1 (16-8 postseason) mark from 1968-91. He led the Steelers to four Super Bowls, winning each and every one of them. Noll was named the Second Team All-Decade coach for both the 1970's and the 1980's, and was inducted into Canton in 1993, just two years after his retirement. He won Coach of the Year honors in 1972 and 1989.
After playing at Dayton and then with the Cleveland Browns, Noll coached for the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Colts before ascending to the head coaching position in Pittsburgh.
