Marshall: The Marshall University Strength and Conditioning Department (Olympic Sports) is seeking motivated individuals to fill 1-2 volunteer coach positions for the Spring 2016 Semester. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Setup, breakdown, and implementation of training programs for 12 intercollegiate teams and assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment and facility. This is an unpaid position, but the candidate will gain critical experience working and learning in a Division I setting. The internship will begin January 4th, 2016 and will end May 6th, 2016. The candidate must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and be CPR and First Aid certified. Preferred qualifications: CSCS, USAW, SCCC. Wake Forest: Wake Forest University is accepting applications for a volunteer Sports Performance Intern to contribute to the Football Sports Performance program for the Winter/Spring of 2016 . The successful candidate must display a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. In addition, they must be committed to enhancing themselves and the department through a continued eagerness to learn and develop professionally. Qualified candidates will serve the Football program as a non-counted coach that will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience and college credit towards graduation if applicable. Preferred qualifications: senior status, bachelor’s degree, graduate student or recently graduated in a program geared towards strength and conditioning. Wyoming: The University of Wyoming Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for SPRING 2016 VOLUNTEER INTERN positions (4). Application review will begin immediately. Job Description: Assist the sports performance staff in all day-to-day operations of the University of Wyoming weight rooms. Duties will include but are not limited to; assisting staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for Football and Olympic Sports, setup and breakdown of training equipment and assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Interns must also complete all requirements assigned through the intern education program. Qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in exercise science or a related field. Experience in a collegiate setting, and a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level. Prospective interns must pass a background check to be eligible for the position. Certification or working towards certifications with the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, and/or USAW is preferred. Compensation: This is an UNPAID POSITION. Class credit toward graduation requirements from your current institution, weekly structured education sessions, the opportunity to learn from five experienced strength and conditioning coaches, including two Master Strength & Conditioning Coaches and the potential to earn future recommendations. Ole Miss: The University of Mississippi is accepting applications for a Spring 2016 semester internship position that would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the Ole Miss Strength and Conditioning Staff with the implementation of the off-season program and all other departmental functions. This internship program contains an academic portion, which entails multiple readings and assignments, as well as a hands on practical portion. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body, previous coaching in a collegiate setting, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Newberry: Newberry College is accepting applications for two positions as Strength and Conditioning Intern and/or Volunteer Assistants for the 2016 Spring semester. Responsibilities include: Assisting the Director of Strength and Conditioning with the supervision and training of Newberry’s Strength and Conditioning program including assisting in the implementation of strength programs for all sports including football, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; completion of various educational assignments during the internship are required. Preferred qualifications include: Pursuing Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field; CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certifications; CPR certification and coaching experience. Villanova: Villanova University is currently accepting applications for volunteer football strength and conditioning interns for Winter-Spring 2016. Starting January 6th – ending May 6th. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s degree program; Must have CPR/AED/First Aid certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) CSCS and/or SCCC certification; (2) Experience competing in intercollegiate athletics or (3) experience working in a collegiate strength and conditioning facility. This is an unpaid position. However, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, receive Nike athletic apparel, some meals will be provided, gain a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn a paid internship position, earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if, applicable. Mercer: Mercer University, a Division I FCS member of the Southern Conference, is currently accepting applications for UNPAID Spring 2016 Intern Strength Coach positions. The start date is January 5th, 2016. These positions are UNPAID, if this is not an economically viable situation for you please do not apply. Duties will include assisting with all aspects of the Mercer University Football Strength program as well as work with other teams as assigned. Individuals chosen to join the Strength staff will be given the opportunity to COACH ON THE WEIGHTROOM FLOOR; this is not an observational role. Required qualifications include; Reliability, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and the ability to volunteer a minimum of 25 hours per week. Preferred qualifications include; Bachelor’s degree, SCCC and/or CSCS certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, experience working with Strength & Conditioning programs at the collegiate level. Applicants should have a strong desire to pursue a career as a full time, collegiate strength & conditioning coach.
