San Jose State: San Jose State is looking to hire a volunteer / intern athletic performance coach. This is a volunteer position and no financial compensation will be provided. The capable candidates will have the opportunity to advance their competence while gaining valuable knowledge and experience in the field of Athletic Performance at a Division 1A institution. Responsibilities for the positions are: assist AP staff with all daily maintenance and operational duties, involvement in volunteer/intern professional development program, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach. Required Qualifications: Applicants should have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Science or a related field and working towards CSCS or SCCC. Must have a strong desire to be involved in Athletic Performance at the collegiate level; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; adhere to all University, Mountain West Conference and NCAA regulations. This position requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. Indiana: The Department of Strength and Conditioning at Indiana University is now accepting volunteer internship applications for the Fall & Spring Semesters. This position is unpaid. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with daily facility maintenance, learning from and assisting strength and conditioning coaches in the training of Collegiate Athletes. Candidates must be CPR/AED certified. Additional Strength and Conditioning certifications are preferred, but not mandatory. This program will include educational projects and discussions. Communication skills, discipline, and a strong work ethic are the characteristics necessary to be successful. Temple: Temple University Strength and Conditioning Department for Olympic Sports is looking for qualified strength and conditioning volunteer interns for the Fall 2015 semester. The internship will begin August 24 and run until December 4, 2015. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Compensation: This is a non-paid, Olympic sports position. Internship curriculum, practical strength and conditioning experience, mentorship, and hours toward undergrad/ graduate or CSCCa practicum. Maryland: The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports will prepare student-athletes at the University of Maryland for the rigor and demands of intercollegiate competition through the utilization of total athletic enhancement training on an individualized as well as team specific basis. The primary function of this position is the management of athletic performance preparation including, but not limited to, the application of appropriate motivational techniques, instruction in safe and correct execution of all training parameters: proper movement preparation, power development, free weight exercises, plyometric training, energy system development and sport specific movement training. The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will provide facility supervision and report individual and team progress as assigned.
