A few weeks ago, Georgia was really struggling to get first downs, and finish drives with points so the last two games decided to slow things down. Since slowing things down, the Bulldogs have gone 2-0 against Kentucky and Auburn and outscored those two opponents 47-16.
Yesterday, during his media availability, Mark Richt gave some of the details behind his logic to tap the brakes on the up tempo approach.
"The last two games we huddled, and if you're no-huddling and you're scoring, it's good stuff. But if you're no-huddling and you're not getting enough first downs and you're not getting enough points on the board, you probably should huddle."
"Not only just to slow down a little bit, but to also...there were times when we were getting like a missed signal, or whatever it was.
"We just had enough little things here and there where we were just like 'You know what? We're going to get in the huddle, we're going to make sure everyone hears the play, we're going to make sure everyone hears the cadence, we're going to make sure everyone knows what to do, we're going to get to that line of scrimmage and make sure everyone knows who the Mike is and all that good stuff, and let's just execute."
