Memphis: Following in Houston's footsteps, Memphis has now gone public that they made what AD Tom Bowen Friday referred to as an "extraordinary offer" to Justin Fuente. Bowen told the Commercial Appeal that they presented the new contract offer to Fuente in October. The CA reports that it would have made Fuente the highest paid coach outside of the Power 5 at the time (although the CA reports that the offer is for more than $3 million per). Fuente when asked about the offer today declined to discuss the offer other than to say "I was sincerely humbled...My representatives have been in contact since this offer several times with the administration. We haven't signed it yet, but we're honored to get it." Fuente added, "Opportunities may come along, and we'll vet those as they come, but we have an incredible amount of sweat equity invested here. Our university has made a generous offer to keep our staff here, and when the time comes we'll evaluate all that and try to make the best decision possible. Read more at the Commercial Appeal.
