Take a second look at that, paying particular attention to the guys up front. Does it look like any of them knew a fake was coming?
Sending in a fake punt call is one thing...but when your punter sees the look he apparently wants pre-snap and just takes off, without any of the other 10 guys on the punt team knowing, well that's a whole new level.
According to an article from ESPN that's what happened. Head coach Jason Garrett didn't give the green light for a fake punt in that situation, and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia had gone over with Jones about a fake they happened to get a certain look, but the actual execution of the play that went for over twenty yards was all punter Chris Jones.
Thankfully for the Cowboys, it worked out in their favor. Dak Prescott finished off the drive with a scramble for a touchdown, but man, that drive have turned out way differently.
