Update on Missouri's coaching search (Top)

The Missouri Tigers close out their regular season today at Arkansas. The Tigers, 5-6 currently, need a win to become "technically" bowl eligible (although these days who knows how bowl games will fill out those final bowl slots).

All eyes are on and hearts with Gary Pinkel today as he coaches what could well be his final game on the sidelines. Heck of a career, GP.

Moving forward, sources tell FootballScoop that athletic director Mack Rhoades is ready to interview, make a decision and get his new head coach to Columbia.

Per sources, Toledo head coach Matt Campbell is expected to interview and is considered a strong candidate. Sources tell FootballScoop that Campbell, who is quite content at Toledo, would accept the opportunity to become the next head coach at Missouri if offered, adding, "and he'd be the exact leader that place needs. He's a team builder. Strong personality that people gravitate towards."

Defensive coordinator Barry Odom is expected to receive an interview as well.

Some people in the industry believe that Rhoades would like to meet with Bowling Green head coach Dino Babers as well; but we have not confirmed this.

The instability of the leadership at Mizzou might cause some issues; but sources we have spoken with believe Rhoades would like to have a new head coach within the next 7 days. If Campbell impresses in his interview and becomes the choice, the announcement could be delayed if Toledo wins today and advances to the MAC championship game (Friday December 4th).

As always, we'll keep you posted on The Scoop.
