The 49ers have hired Chip Kelly (Top)

Well, that didn't take long.

Two weeks after his dismissal by the Philadelphia Eagles, Chip Kelly has landed the San Francisco 49ers head coaching job. Owner Jed York announced the hiring through his Twitter account.

Kelly, of course, was forced out after a 26-21 three-year run in which he won the NFC East in his first season, won 10 games again in his second season and was forced out after his third. And the Niners, of course, got to this point after forcing out Jim Harbaugh after his only unsuccessful season, then fell flat on their face in Jim Tomsula's one-season run. So you've got a successful coach that's on the market after losing a power struggle with management, and a team that's on the coaching market after forcing out a successful coach in a power struggle gone mad. The question now becomes exactly where the steering wheel resides between Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke. And is this the beginning of Colin Kaepernick's NFL renaissance, or will Kelly the endless quarterback rotation he conducted in Philly?

Kelly reportedly beat out former Broncos and Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan for the job.
