Arizona: The University of Arizona Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Fall of 2017. This internship will begin July 31, 2017 and will conclude at the end of December 1, 2017 or at the conclusion of Bowl Season. This is an unpaid position. Compensation will include gear, learning from an approved mentor via the CSCCa, potential to sit for the SCCC certification, and recommendations for future career opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the University of Arizona Football team and other University Athletic Programs, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. All applicants should have, or be working towards an accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Applications will be taken until the positions are filled. Washington: The University of Washington (Seattle, WA) is currently seeking applicants for our Fall 2017 Football Strength & Conditioning Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to continue their experience through the season dependent upon individual performance during preseason camp. Must adhere to the rules of the NCAA, The University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics Department, and the Pac-12 Conference. Required qualifications: Currently pursuing/possessing bachelors or masters in exercise science or a related field, CPR/AED certified, and a strong desire to become a Collegiate/Professional Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: Currently pursuing/possessing NSCA, CSCCa, or USAW certification(s). Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. Individuals will gain experience in a Division I collegiate speed, strength & conditioning setting, as well as future recommendation for employment. College credit will be given as approved by their institution. Applicants are strongly encouraged to secure housing in the Seattle area prior to the start date once selected. Missouri-St. Louis (D-II): University of Missouri-St. Louis, a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and sponsor of 13 Division II sports, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach (part-time). This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and conducting strength and conditioning programs for 4-5 Division II athletic programs. Salary: $5,000 over an 8 month period; 10-15 hours per week; Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Health Sciences or related field; Current CSCCa (SCCC) or NSCA (CSCS) certification; CPR/First Aid Certification required; The candidate must also possess strong organizational and communications skills; Professional demeanor and high standard of ethics and integrity pertaining to collegiate athletics; Ability to work effectively in a diverse workplace, with a variety of teams, coaches, sports medicine and support staff; Basic technology skills, including computer-based software, and mobile device applications. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Health Sciences or related field; Demonstrated experience training collegiate level student-athletes; Experience working simultaneously with a wide range of sports. Essential Functions: Write and implement sports performance programs for student athletes and teams assigned by the Director of Sports Performance; Assist in scheduling team training activities and monitoring the student athlete weight room; Drafting and implementing physical development and flexibility programs to enhance strength, speed, cardiovascular endurance and sports specific skills; Assisting with rehabilitation of sports related injuries to student-athletes; All duties must be performed in compliance with NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations.
