Garden City CC (JC - KS): Garden City Community College is currently accepting applications for Fall 2017 volunteer internship positions to work with the 2016 FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS and other sports, qualified candidates would work with the Sports Performance Department. GCCC is part of the NJCAA Jayhawk Conference with approximately 400 total athletes. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the Director of Sports Performance and Sport Coaches with the implementation of the summer and fall program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certifications through USAW, NSCA, CSCCa. CPR/First Aid & AED, and certifications are not a needed. If you have the want to learn about this industry please apply. This is not an internship where the interns are only allowed to clean, sit back and watch, it will be very in-depth and hands on. Arkansas State: The Arkansas State University Department of Athletics Performance is currently accepting applications for a Volunteer Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach. This is an unpaid position that will last for the duration of the 2017 Fall Semester with an estimated start date of August 21, 2017. This internship can be used for course credits. This internship is also Mentor Approved for those individuals preparing to complete the required hours for the SCCC certification issued by the CSCCa. An educational curriculum will be provided as well as practical experience working with all student-athletes at Arkansas State. Texas-Rio Grande Valley: University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley as an assistant strength and conditioning coaching position. Responsible for implementing and supervising strength and conditioning training programs for student-athletes in a variety of sports. Assists Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the design, implementation and supervision of strength, speed, agility and conditioning programs for NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. Develops and coordinates programs that will assist student-athletes achieve overall physical strength. Provides proper weight lifting and exercise technique instructions. Ensures the proper operation of the strength training center, which includes conducting risk management and equipment maintenance. Schedules and oversees training sessions for student-athletes including, but not limited to, training student-athletes in proper weight lifting techniques and conditioning practices, recording and interpreting results as well as evaluating appropriate correlation of fitness components necessary to meet optimal individual performance levels. May supervise part-time support staff in the sports training center, which includes making recommendations for hiring, training, work allocation. Assists in aspects of recruiting, marketing and promotion of the sports training center. Enforces policies and procedures of the Athletic Department and weight training facilities. Performs equipment maintenance check to ensure safety of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or closely related field from an accredited university. Certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength Conditioning Certified Coach (SCCC) or the ability to obtain one of these within 6 months of hire. Lousiville: The University of Louisville Football Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Internship Program is currently accepting applications for the 2017 Fall semester. The internship will begin July 25th. These internships are unpaid and non-coaching positions. Prerequisites: The candidate must be pursing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and be CPR and First Aid certified. Candidates must be considering, pursing or possess a certification through the CSCCa and/or NSCA. Daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to assisting in the day to day operations of the facility, cleaning and maintenance duties, set-up and break-down of equipment for all workouts, data collection, organizing nutrition/fueling station and assist with GPS catapult systems. The internship program will consist of mock interviews, presentations to the staff, weekly topics and bi-weekly evaluations. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, respectable character, 100% commitment to the program and a desire to pursue a career in the strength and conditioning field. Purdue: Purdue Strength and Conditioning – OLYMPIC SPORTS is currently accepting applications for UNPAID internship positions for FALL 2017. Purdue is home to 18 sports teams. Interns will have the opportunity to assist any given combination of sports as well as participate in special projects, possible sport science, and education meetings. Reinhardt (NAIA - GA): Reinhardt University Strength and Conditioning is currently seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Intern Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Fall Semester of 2017. This is an UNPAID position that will begin August 7th and will end Dec 15. Primary roles and responsibilities include but are not limited too; assistance with the implementation of training regimens of both football and olympic sports, set up/break down of training session, and facility upkeep. This internship will also include an internship curriculum that will require participation in regular professional development assignments.
