Temple: Geoff Collins has formally announced the hirings of Ryan Horton and Jordan Barber as assistant strength coaches. David Feely has been previously announced as head strength coach.
Cincinnati: Sources tell FootballScoop Robert Stiner and Tyrone Smith are joining the strength staff at Cincinnati. Stiner previously served at FIU, as head strength coach at Central Arkansas, as an assistant at Mississippi State, intern at LSU and at Valdosta State. Smith served as a sports performance intern at Ohio State this past year (was a defensive lineman at Penn State).
NJIT: The NJIT Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for a volunteer/intern strength and conditioning coach for the Spring 2017 semester. This is an unpaid position. However, the volunteer will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on experience at the Division 1 level. Responsibilities: Assist in all aspects of the strength and conditioning program, as assigned. Requirements: Working toward or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. CSCS or SCCC preferred. First Aid/CPR/AED Certified. Looking to move into a full-time position in strength and conditioning. Experience in a weight room, in collegiate athletics, and/or experience working with collegiate student-athletes. Missouri Southern State: Missouri Southern State University, an NCAA Division II program part of the MIAA conference located in Joplin, Mo, is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will also meet the requirements needed to sit for the CSCCa SCCC certification test. RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in overall direction and coordination of strength and conditioning programs for 13 varsity sports. Primary teams will be baseball, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball. Assisting in the everyday operations of the facility. Applicants must have strong knowledge of teaching technique of Olympic style lifting exercises. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred in appropriate field. SCCC or CSCS certification required. Prefer at least 2-3 years of experience in a collegiate athletic setting. Committed to the profession of strength and conditioning a must. Indiana: The Department of Strength and Conditioning at Indiana University is still accepting volunteer internship applications for the Spring Semester. This position is unpaid. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with daily facility maintenance, learning from and assisting strength and conditioning coaches in the training of Collegiate Athletes. Candidates must be CPR/AED certified. Additional Strength and Conditioning certifications are preferred, but not mandatory. This program will include educational projects and discussions. Fresno State: Fresno State University is accepting applications for volunteer intern coaches to contribute to the Strength and Conditioning Program. Qualified candidates will work directly with Football, and will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an UNPAID opportunity that provides experience assisting the Football Strength and Conditioning Staff implement individualized, comprehensive, sport-specific injury prevention and performance enhancement programs. Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong character,a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study and CSCS certification. Applicants must also have current CPR/ AED certification. This internship is expected to begin no later than Monday, January 16th 2017, and requires a 6-month time commitment. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan University Sports Performance is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Winter/Spring 2017 semester. The internship will begin Tuesday January 9th and end on Wednesday April 20th 2017. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; working towards NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience. Compensation: This is a non-paid position. Those accepted into the program will be provided with a one of a kind internship curriculum, practical strength and conditioning experience, and career mentorship. Hours completed can be applied toward undergraduate/graduate internship requirements and/or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association certification practicum requirement.
