Maryland: The University of Maryland is currently accepting applications to fill three (3) Fall 2019 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the UMD Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Fall 2019 program (August 19th-December 6th), set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor’s degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa). Virginia: The University of Virginia is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns for the 2019 Fall. The internship will start August 19, and continue through the duration of the season. The internship will consist of classroom time, platform work, and our intern lifting program. You will complete and certifications through the CSCCA-SCCC, NSCA-CSCS, or USAW. Interns will gain collegiate experience at the Division I level, and potential for future recommendations for future career opportunities. Nevada: The Nevada Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for VOLUNTEER interns for the 2019 Summer Workout Program (start date of May 25). These are UNPAID positions. Accepted interns will work directly with the Nevada Football Strength and Conditioning Staff and will gain valuable experience of the inner workings of a Division I Football Program. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: assisting the staff in set up and break down of workout sessions, routine weight room maintenance, nutrition, education and research, and other related tasks in compliance with NCAA and Nevada rules and regulations. William & Mary: The College of William and Mary Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for 2-3 Athletic Performance Interns and 1 Data Science Intern for the 2019 fall semester. The position will start in late August and end in early December. Gear and some meals will be provided, as well as daily Wawa caffeine products and the occasional fritter (only on Friday’s), but this position is UNPAID, so please apply only if this is financially feasible for you and you are available to work full-time. Successful applicants should expect to benefit from exposure to the working environment of Division 1 Athletics, continuing high performance education, and the opportunity to further develop as coaches and technicians in a practical setting, and also earn recommendations for future employment. Interns will be expected to support the daily functioning of the department: administrative and maintenance; session set-up and break-down, data collection, processing and management, research and project development, and most importantly, assisting with coaching the athletes. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: strong desire to pursue a career in athletic performance, current or prior academic background in exercise science-related field, highly motivated and self-starting. Additionally for Data Science internship: current or prior academic background in data science or related field, experience with coding and data visualization. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: prior experience working in an athletic performance setting, currently hold or working towards accredited certification (CSCCa, NSCA, UKSCA, ASCA etc…), CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Northern State: Northern State University (Aberdeen, SD) is currently accepting applications for one Graduate Assistant in Strength and Conditioning. The Graduate Assistant position is a two-year assignment beginning with the 2019-20 academic year. Compensation includes a two thirds tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Candidates must be admissible to the graduate program, GRE is not required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports, communication with coaches, athletic training staff and administration. Candidates must hold a BA/BS in exercise science or a health related field and be working toward certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association or the SCCC through the CSCCa. Previous strength and conditioning internship experience preferred. Morehouse College: Morehouse College is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning intern. This is a VOLUNTEER, UNPAID, position and offers Division II experience and training in an educational environment and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: Run the Football Strength and Conditioning program assist with daily administrative and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; The internship start date would be immediately. Morehouse College is located in downtown Atlanta Georgia.
