Manhattan College: Manhattan College is accepting applications for a part-time PAID strength and conditioning coach. The paid strength and conditioning coach will report directly to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a 4-month position running through May with possibility of renewal. The successful candidate must comply with all Strength and Conditioning department and Manhattan College Athletic Department Policies and Procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the strength and conditioning program including but not limited to: program design and implementation for assigned teams, meetings with sport coaches and sports medicine staff, facility management, equipment maintenance, daily set up and break down, etc. The successful candidate will be responsible for aspects of design, development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of the strength and conditioning programs for multiple Olympic sports as assigned and operate under direct supervision from the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Candidates will work closely with the sports medicine staff in providing injury rehabilitation. This position requires working early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. Required qualification: (1) Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, (2) a nationally recognized certification (SCCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and/or (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and (3) certified in AED/CPR and First Aid. All candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all members of the college community. Alabama: The University of Alabama football Strength and Conditioning Staff is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the 2018 spring semester. Responsibilities: various duties within the football strength & conditioning department including weight room maintenance/cleaning, workout setups, and other duties assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Hours will vary throughout the semester and may include early morning, late afternoon hours, and weekends. This is an UNPAID volunteer internship. However, candidates will receive hands on Division I Intercollegiate experience with football, college credit towards graduation if applicable and access to continuing education resources, CSCS certification prep, networking opportunities, potential future recommendation for professional advancement and continuing mentorship beyond completion of the internship. Preferred qualifications: Earned or Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise science or related field; Earned or pursuing NSCA-CSCS, USAW or equivalent certifications, CPR certification. Experience in a Strength and Conditioning Program or having previous collegiate athletics experience is plus. Syracuse: Keith Caton, who previously led the strength program at Indiana, has joined the Syracuse strength and conditioning program, per source.
Lenoir-Rhyne: Chad Smith, a former graduate assistant for Lenoir-Rhyne, has been named head strength and conditioning coach.
South Carolina: Strength coach Jeff Dillman has received a 1-year contract taking him through 2018 and he will reportedly $425,000, per a report from The Post and Courier.
Rice: The Rice University Strength and Conditioning Department for Football is now accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER interns for the Spring of 2018. The internship tentatively begins January 29, 2018 and will approximately end May 2, 2018. This is an unpaid position; however, the position offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning through earned future recommendation as well as the opportunity to become a seasonal intern for the Summer of 2018, where the intern will participate as one of the five designated strength and conditioning coaches for the football program. The interns that are selected will also accumulate internship hours toward CSCCa Certification under a certified mentor and/or required college internship hours. Responsibilities include, but not are not limited to: assisting with the daily implementation of summer training for the Rice Football team, set up and breakdown of daily strength and conditioning training sessions, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, data collection, as well as participation in a vigorous internship curriculum. Prerequisites include completion of or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, working towards CSCCa or NSCA certification, along with, preferably collegiate athletic playing experience.
