Kevin Cosgrove will join LSU's staff as a defensive analyst, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday.
Cosgrove is currently at New Mexico, where he was slated to serve as the Lobos' linebackers coach. Cosgrove spent the past seven seasons at New Mexico, the last five as defensive coordinator, but Lobos head coach Bob Davie announced last month that Jordan Peterson had been promoted to defensive coordinator, while Cosgrove would remain on as linebackers coach.
Instead, Cosgrove has opted to join the support staff at LSU.
In addition to New Mexico, Cosgrove previously coordinated defenses for Nebraska, Wisconsin, Akron and Southeast Missouri State. He spent 14 years on College Football Hall of Famer Barry Alvarez's Wisconsin staffs, five as linebackers coach and nine as defensive coordinator.
