Saturday December 9, 2017

Central Arkansas: Offensive coordinator Nathan Brown has been promoted to head coach.

Texas: New director of athletics Chris Del Conte, yeah, he's getting paid.

Tennessee: Sources tell FootballScoop there is chatter of LSU general manager Austin Thomas being a candidate for a somewhat similar role at Tennessee. We understand Thomas is head down, working as usual at LSU at this time. Unclear at this time whether an offer has been extended or not; but we do note that Jeremy Pruitt and Thomas share the same agent. Thomas, who is from Tennessee, turned down multiple opportunities last off-season with NFL teams (per sources) to remain at LSU with Ed Orgeron.

Missouri: The University has announced a two-year extension for Barry Odom. Odom's Tigers went 4-8 in his first season and 7-5 this season.

Prairie View A&M (FCS - TX): With Willie Simmons off to Florida A&M, Prairie View has now announced Bubba McDowell will serve as acting head coach until a new head coach is announced.

Texas: Texas is hiring TCU director of athletics Chris Del Conte in the same role. You need to read this story...

Florida A&M (FCS): Prairie View A&M head coach Willie Simmons has accepted the FAMU head job source tells FootballScoop.

Salaries: An interesting look at the difference in salaries for the same staff...at UCF in 2017 & going forward to Nebraska for 2018:

Montana (FCS): Offensive line coach Chad Germer, running backs coach Justin Green, safeties coach Shann Schillinger, strength coach Matt Nicholson, DFO Colin Bonnicksen and video coordinator Lennard Manke have all been retained by Bobby Hauck.

Illinois State (FCS): Source tells FootballScoop Illinois State running backs / recruiting coordinator Lamar Conard is stepping down. Conard has served on the staff nine seasons, also serving as the pro-liaison.

Oregon: Marcus Arroyo will serve as offensive coordinator, calling the plays for the Ducks going forward.

Tennessee: Source tells FootballScoop Tyson Helton will have the offensive coordinator title at Tennessee.

Tennessee: Troy director of operations / high school relations Todd Watson will join Jeremy Pruitt's staff at Tennessee sources tell FootballScoop. Watson and Pruitt coached together at Hoover High (Watson as defensive coordinator and Pruitt as special teams coordinator). After serving on the staff at Hoover High (where he was part of 4 state championship teams in 5 years), Watson served as head coach at Foley High for 10 seasons where his former players include Julio Jones and DJ Fluker. At Tennessee sources tell FootballScoop Watson's title is likely to be director of football operations or similar.

Oregon: Mario Cristobal's contract with Oregon is 5 years at $2.5 million per year. Should he leave before January 31, 2019 he would owe the University $10 million. Should Oregon choose to let him go (without cause) he would be owed 50% of remaining base salary left on his contract (subject to mitigation from future employment).

Herm Edwards: Herm Edwards' contract with Arizona State is 5 years, beginning at $2 million per, with annual $250,000 raises. Should ASU fired Edwards (without cause) the university would owe him 100% of the remaining base pay of his contract.

Eastern Illinois: Source tells FootballScoop defensive line coach Kwahn Drake has added the co-defensive coordinator title.
