Kansas State: K-State will hire former North Dakota State AD and current Iowa deputy AD Gene Taylor to run the athletics department, according to multiple reports.
IAWP rule: The NCAA has approved a rule severely limiting FBS programs' ability to hire high school coaches. Full release here.
10th Assistant: The NCAA has approved a 10th assistant for FBS programs, effective in January.
NCAA: The NCAA Division I Council has voted to allow an early signing period. Thinking through the possible ramifications for recruits, ADs and coaches.
Miami Dolphins: Per Alex Marvez, longtime NFL assistant Joe Vitt has joined the staff as a consultant. Vitt, who has served on seven different NFL staffs including this past season as the assistant head coach / linebackers coach with the New Orleans Saints, is the father-in-law of Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.
NFL: Senior VP of officiating Dean Blandino is leaving and expected to go into the television sector, per multiple reports. PFT adds that Blandino is expected to be hired by CBS. Adam Schefter adds that CBS as told Sports Business Journal that they're not planning to hire Blandino. Update:John Ourand of Sports Business Journal reports Blandino is expected to land at FOX... who already employs Mike Pereira. Ourand notes Fox's college portfolio is growing this year with the Big Ten coming aboard.
Navarro College (JC - TX): Former Baylor defensive line coach Chris Achuff has joined the staff coaching the defensive line, and former Baylor assistant linebackers coach Jim Gush will be the team's defensive coordinator.
Susquehanna (D-III - PA): Per source, Patrick Ruley has joined the staff at Susquehanna as defensive coordinator. Ruley previously served as linebacker coach / special teams coordinator at Alderson Broaddus (D-II - WV).
Mansfield (Sprint - PA): Mansfield University Sprint Football is seeking seasonal position coach from August 15 to November 15. Seasonal pay and housing provided. Send resume to fnovak@mansfield.edu.
Reedley (JC - CA): Reedley College has an immediate opening on the defensive side of the ball at either linebackers or defensive line. There is flexibility within the staff to accommodate the best candidate. The position is a stipend position only ($5,500-11,500 depending on education and experience and determined by human resources). There are no additional benefits included with the position.
