A player who levied multiple allegations of NCAA violations against the Texas A&M coaching staff is no longer on the team at Arizona.
"He was informed this morning that he's no longer on the team," Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin said Monday.
A native of Englewood, Colo., by way of IMG Academy, Santino Marchiol signed with Sumlin's staff at Texas A&M in 2017 and last week went public with allegations against Jimbo Fisher's staff, ranging from cash payouts for hosting official visitors and Aggie coaches overseeing voluntary workouts to the A&M training staff mishandling his ankle injury.
(Jimbo Fisher has said he'll cooperate with any investigation that comes Texas A&M's way.)
Represented by Thomas Mars, the Arkansas-based lawyer who represented Houston Nutt in his case that eventually saw Hugh Freeze's resignation from Ole Miss, Marchiol went public with the allegations in an attempt to exploit an NCAA loophole in order to gain immediate eligibility at Arizona.
However, that effort has now been rendered moot after a Hudl clip emerged that appeared to show Marchiol narrating an A&M scrimmage while referring to more than one of his black teammates as "monkeys."
As such, Marchiol's case to obtain immediate eligibility at Arizona now appears to be dead.
