What has been widely rumored for a few weeks now is official - former Michigan coordinator Pep Hamilton has been named the new head coach of the XFL franchise located in his hometown of Washington, D.C. Pep will also serve as the team's GM.
Pep spent the past the past two seasons at Michigan as assistant head coach and passing game coordinator before officially resigning "to pursue other opportunities" in early February.
His coaching journey has taken him to both the college and NFL ranks on the offensive side of the ball with stops at Howard, Stanford, and Michigan and with the New York Jets, Niners, Bears, Colts, and Browns. He's held a coordinator title at Howard, Stanford, and with the Indianapolis Colts and at Michigan.
As commissioner Oliver Luck pointed out earlier, the rest of the head coaches will be announced about once a week through the end of March with the team names, colors and logos coming out by April.
Hamilton joins Bob Stoops of the Dallas franchise as the two head coaches officially named so far.
The 10-team league will play their first game the weekend after the Super Bowl in 2020, and they'll play a ten-game schedule.
