Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino signs new 7-year deal worth over $30 million (Featured)

Bobby Petrino and Louisville have agreed to a new 7-year deal worth over $30 million Brett McMurphy of ESPN is reporting.

The new deal averages over $4.35 million annually, putting Petrino in elite company among ACC coaches like Jimbo Fisher, Dabo Swinney, and Mark Richt as coaches in the $4 million a year club in the conference.

In two seasons at Louisville, Petrino is 17-9, going 9-4 in his first season back with the Cardinals in 2014 (he previously coached at Louisville in 2006 before leaving for the Atlanta Falcons), and an 8-5 finish in 2015.

In 11 season as a head coach at the college level, Petrino has been as consistent on the field as anyone in the game, finishing with a winning record in all but one season which happened to be 2008 in his first season leading the Arkansas program. Overall, as a college head coach, Petrino is an impressive 100-39 at places like Louisville (twice), Western Kentucky, and Arkansas. His best year came in 2006, in the final season of his first stint at Lousville when he led the program to a 12-1 finish and a win the the Orange Bowl.

His one and only season in the NFL as the head coach of the Falcons in 2007 resulted in a 3-10 finish.
