Adjusting Two Deep Fire Zones vs. Two-Back Run Game: Because of the numbers advantage presented with a two-back offense, particularly with full flow strong action, defensive coordinators have been mixing more quarters and read concepts into first down pressures. It’s the reasoning behind why Southern High School (MD) head football coach Steve Erxleben has transitioned to producing hard edge support like invert and cloud to defend the two-back run game from Y attached and Y detached formations. In an exclusive clinic report released by X&O Labs, Coach Erxleben reveals how mixing both edge and staggered blitz on heavy run downs keeps his blitzing identity and allows him to easily adjust blitz angles and maintain the rugby style tackling principles he uses in his program. This report will be released Tuesday morning. To ensure you receive this report directly in your inbox, click here and enter your email.
