Gary Pinkel: Team & Staff are united, supports players (Top)

Yesterday, a group of Mizzou players tweeted that they would be taking a united stand against university president Tim Wolfe, saying that they "no longer intend to practice or play" until he is removed from office.

Read more on how that unfolded last night here.

Today, Gary Pinkel, his staff, and the rest of the team publicly stated their support of the players' decision with a powerful tweet of their own. In a matter of minutes, the tweet hit the 1,000 RT mark, illustrating just how important this developing issue is to so many.

Even the governor of Missouri has stepped in on this one.

It's going to be interesting to see how this situation continues to play out, as Mizzou is scheduled to take on BYU this weekend at home.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.

Update: President Tim Wolfe has released a new statement

PM Update: Pinkel and AD Mack Rhoades have released a statement saying the team doesn't intend to practice until graduate student Jonathan Butler ends his hunger strike against university leadership.

Today, Sunday, there will be no football practice or formal team activities. Our focus right now is on the health of Jonathan Butler, the concerns of our student-athletes and working with our community to address this serious issue. After meeting with the team this morning, it is clear they do not plan to return to practice until Jonathan resumes eating. We are continuing to have department, campus, and student meetings as we work through this issue and will provide further comment tomorrow afternoon.
