Last Wednesday, Charlie Strong stood in front of cameras and said next to nothing on speculation he could leave Texas after this season.
On Monday, Strong said what he should have said Wednesday.
“I’ve told my players I’m not going anywhere,” Strong said, via 247 Sports. “I’m here for the duration and I’m here to stay."
Texas sits at 4-6 this season and 10-13 in two seasons under Strong, with 10-15 entirely possible considering the state of the Longhorns' struggling offense and the nature of upcoming counterparts Texas Tech and Baylor.
Still, Strong has the unequivocal support of UT president Gregory Fenves and interim AD Mike Perrin, regardless of how 2015 finishes.
“I don't run from anything,” Strong said. “When you work so hard to put yourself in this position nothing's ever too tough.”
Proving he wants to be Texas's coach to say, Strong snuck in a dig at Texas A&M on Monday.
