Video: James Franklin and Mike Locksley provide perspective on their heated postgame handshake (handshake)

In a weekend where postgame shenanigans have dominated headlines, James Franklin and Mike Locksley had some drama of their own.

Despite the lopsided 44-7 score in favor of the Nittany Lions that, combined with Ohio State's loss to rival Michigan, send them to the Big Ten title game against Oregon, the head coaches of each team met for the customary postgame handshake in a moment that clearly got heated.

The only thing that can really be deciphered clearly is Franklin saying, "If that's what you think...that's fine."

Below is the best available video of that moment.

So what exactly happened? Well, the end of the game included a sequence with Penn State with the ball up 31 points, facing a 4th and 12, and the Nittany Lions tossing a touchdown pass to extend their lead.

It's not a stretch to think that Locksley was fond of how that played out at the end a game that was out of hand.

After the game, both were able to provide their own perspective on the situation.

"My jobs is to put threes and fours in the game, but when the threes and fours get to go in the game, they get to play football. Those guys deserve to play football," Franklin shares.

"Your ones are in the game," Franklin goes on to say, clearly referring to Locksley's call to keep his starters in the game. "You were trying to score. We are trying to score."

"On top of that, you're playing cover 0. If you don't want us to [score there lik that]...run cover 2. So, I'm good with it."

Franklin goes on to share that it's also important to understand the new era of college football that we're in, and scoring differential is part of putting together a resume to host a game in the college football playoff.

Locksley's perspective? A bit more simple. It was "bullshit."

"Bullshit is what it was. I respect the game. I got a lot of respect for James, his program. I think it was bullshit."

As someone who has been on my fair share of blowout losses, as well as some big blowout wins, I'm standing with Franklin on this one.
