How New Hampshire's Tracer Elements Eliminate Back Gapping in Duo Runs: For the last several seasons, the Duo run concept has been New Hampshire’s most efficient run. But when the rest of the CAA started to mimic its success by studying the play design, UNH offensive staff had to find ways to protect the backside entry point for the back against over-shifted LBs. This included what former offensive coordinator Brian Scott called “tracer elements,” which meant having an additional blocker- which can be a tight end, full back, slot or even big receiver- come across the formation to insert into the backside. It helped to account for extra defenders who were backgapping the play. X&O Labs reveals their exclusive work with Coach Scott- who is now at Tennessee Tech in the same capacity- on how he’s continued to advance his most productive scheme. Get the full story here.
