"Force the Log": How Wisconsin-Oshkosh Uses Double Load Principles to Get It's QB the Edge on Power Read: When Pete Jennings was the Offensive Coordinator at D3 Powerhouse Wisconsin-Whitewater, most of his offensive menu was built around the A-gap power play. But when he took the head job at Oshkosh, he simply didn’t have the personnel to sustain blocks at the LOS. But he did have an athletic QB, so he used his familiarity with A-gap power and built ways to get his quarterback on the perimeter by using swipes and loads off of the power read concept. Using them from 12 personnel groupings allowed for bigger tight ends to get matched up on the third-level safeties on the perimeter, keeping the ball in his QB’s hands. In an exclusive clinic report with X&O Labs, Coach Jennings goes over the rules for his two pullers in the concept who are taught to work off each other to protect the quarterback. Read more here.
