Former Central Michigan starting QB Tommy Lazzaro passed away on Sunday, December 22nd in Fort Walton Beach, FL at the age of 27. Sargent Lazzaro was a Green Beret, part of the Army Special Forces, 7th Group. He led CMU to the MAC Title in 2019, and prior to that led Dodge City Community College to a 9-3 record in 2015, up to that point the best year in program history. He led Pine Creek High School to back to back state championships in Colorado in 2013 and 2014. He was a leader and winner, and proudly served his country. His family asks that donations be directed to groups who support veterans.

Stetson (FCS - FL): Coastal Carolina offensive graduate assistant Matt Clark has accepted the running backs job on staff.
William Woods (NAIA - MO): With head coach Julian Mendez stepping down to accept a position on the staff at Washburn (D-II - MO), offensive coordinator Sam Camp has been elevated to head coach.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (D-III - TX): Cory Hogue of DCTF shares that Stephen Lee, who has twice been a finalist for our FootballScoop Coordinator of the Year award, is returning to the school as offensive coordinator. He spent this past fall as the tight ends coach at Tarleton (FCS - TX) and previously served as play caller for the Crusaders for three national championships.
Idaho (FCS): Cort Dennison, who has been an assistant at Louisville, Utah and Oregon, has joined the staff as defensive coordinator, Pete Thamel shares.
Shaw (D-II - VA): Alabama State running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Greg Ruffin has been named head coach at Shaw.
Pete Carroll: Adam Schefter shared yesterday that former Seahawks head caoch Pete Carroll has expressed interest in the Bears head coaching job and would like to return to the sideline next season.
Western Kentucky: Sources tell FootballScoop that WKU is making a switch at a key offensive position.
Bryant (FCS - RI) Bryant University is searching for an Offensive Skill Assistant Coach. This is an entry level position with a $19k stipend and a bed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, collegiate playing experience and or coaching experience, excellent communication and leadership skills. Minorites are encouraged to apply. Jacksonville State (FCS): First-year head coach Charles Kelly and new offensive coordinator Clint Trickett are set to bring some major coaching talent on board, sources tell FootballScoop.
Virginia State (D-II): Head coach Dr. Henry Frazier has signed a 5-year extension. He led the Trojans to a 7-4 finish this past fall and were 8-2 in 2023.
Marshall: Sources tell FootballScoop Tony Gibson's staff continues to come together with the additions of Theron Aych as receivers coach, Jake Ellsworth as linebackers coach and Dwight Galt as head strength coach.
Drake (FCS - IA): Just a few days removed from winning an NAIA national title, Drake has hired Joe Woodley away from Grand View (NAIA - IA), as its new head coach.
Oklahoma Panhandle State (NAIA): OPSU is in search of an offensive assistant football coach. We are looking for the best overall fit so will evaluate all candidates regardless of positions previously coached. The salary is 16,000 and comes with a housing. This is a non-benefitted position.
