Georgia: UGA is looking to hire a professional athletic performance intern. The Professional Intern for Athletic Performance will have the opportunity to design and implement annual strength and conditioning programs for UGA Cheer. The position will communicate independently with their assigned sport coaches and respective sport athletic training staff personnel. The position will also assist with the implementation of annual strength and conditioning programs including at least two of the head count sports and three other assigned teams, work in accordance with demands provided by the Athletic Performance Coaching Staff for respective assigned Olympic sports. The prospective intern will have input in the decision based on interest and knowledge base. The position will provide instruction in proper lifting techniques, conditioning modalities, pre-habilitation techniques, and recovery methods. Additionally, the position will monitor progress of athletes through computer charting and analysis of daily, monthly, and annual training for assigned sport teams and for teams as assigned by staff. In conjunction with the Athletic Performance Staff, the position will have the opportunity gain knowledge in Sports Science by assisting with collection and administration of data (Daily Readiness Questionnaires, VALD), training load data (RPE questionnaires, GPS & GymAware) and performance testing for assigned Olympic Sports Teams. The position will assist in managing all aspects of the UGAA Olympic Sports strength and conditioning facility and assist with the supervision of the 16,000 square foot weight room. Some nights and weekends will be required. The position will have the added opportunity to collaborate with the Athletic Performance Coaching Staff for Olympic Sports on implementing the Strength and Conditioning Educational Intern Curriculum for non-compensated volunteer student interns. The position will aid in the maintenance of free weights, exercise machines, cardio equipment, and sport science equipment/The Professional Intern for Athletic Performance should have knowledge of and adhere to NCAA and SEC rules and regulations. Previous collegiate strength and conditioning experience is required. The Professional Athletic Performance Intern should possess a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, physical education, or related field – Master’s Degree will be preferred. Prior experience in competitive sports as an athlete, graduate assistant coach, or as a student researcher is preferred. Sound functional training skills are beneficial. CSCS or CSCCa and CPR certifications are preferred. Prior experience with functional movement assessments through Functional Movement Systems (FMS) and/or Fusionetics is needed. Catapult, GymAware and Force Plate tesimplementation and interpretation preferred. Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook are essential. This position is a full-time salaried position and will start immediately. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Master's degree is preferred. Three (3) years of intercollegiate strength and conditioning experience is preferred. Experience with both men’s and women’s athletics is preferred.
