Cal: The University of California, Berkeley Football Athletic Performance is currently seeking volunteers for an UNPAID internship for the Summer of 2023. Qualified individuals who are chosen will have the opportunity to assist, and learn from a Division 1 Football Athletic Performance Staff. All that apply must possess great work ethic, energy and character. As well as exceptional communication and organizational skills. Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate athletics or related fields. Previous experience as an intern in the collegiate strength and conditioning setting, or coaching experience in athletics is preferred, but not required. Duties include, but are not limited to: setup and breakdown of all football training sessions, consistent facility maintenance, data entry, assisting the full-time staff in all football training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules, and other duties as assigned by the full-time strength and conditioning staff. Mississippi State: The Mississippi State Football Strength and Conditioning program is now accepting applications for 1-2 volunteer interns for Summer 2023. These positions are UNPAID. Successful candidates will work directly with football and assist with all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. Position responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: assisting the staff in all aspects of the strength and speed programs; assisting with Catapult GPS, Kistler Force Plates, and other performance tracking systems’ data collection and interpretation; setting up and breaking down of training sessions; assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities; assisting with nutrition; as well as other assigned duties. This internship program consists of a rigorous academic curriculum along with a practical component. Minimum requirements: a current CPR/AED certification, a strong work ethic, punctuality, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field, SCCC, CSCS, or USAW certifications, or experience as a collegiate athlete. The official start date will be in May and end in Late-July. There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Western Michigan: Western Michigan University Football Strength and Conditioning program is now accepting applications for Summer 2023 intern candidates. This is a volunteer unpaid position that will be responsible for assisting the Western Michigan Football Strength and Conditioning staff with the execution of the football Summer program. Our intern development program will give you a hands- on experience working with division 1 college football athletes and the tools for future professional opportunities. In addition to this, weekly education sessions with other leaders in the field are provided. Required qualifications include: completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Start date will be May 15, 2023. Internship will conclude July 28, 2023 with an opportunity to continue through the Fall pending performance evaluation.
