Liberty: The Liberty University Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the positions of VOLUNTEER INTERN for Summer Semester of 2024 (May 28th-August 1st). With a possible extension through the Fall of 2024. DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES will include but are not limited to assisting in the implementation of the Strength and Conditioning programs; set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and participation in the internship curriculum. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION, HOUSING, OR TRANSPORTATION will be provided, however, Interns will receive experience working in a Division 1 training environment and have the opportunity to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and/or receive college credit if applicable. The Intern’s level of ambition will determine the level of the learning experience. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Interns are expected to be punctual, enthusiastic, reliable, productive and consistent along with having the financial capability to hold the position for the duration of the internship. Ideal candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree or be in the last semester of coursework earning and undergraduate degree in exercise science or related field of study. Certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCa, SCCC; USAW) is preferred but not required. Flagler College (FL): The Flagler College Sports Performance Department is looking to fill two volunteer internship positions for the Fall 2024 semester. Applicants must hold or be actively working toward a CSCS or SCCC certification, and/or be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field, and be First Aid/CPR/AED certified. Applicants will be required to pass a background check. Applicants can expect hands-on coaching opportunities, weekly lectures pertaining to the seven program design variables, and professional development assignments, among other duties assigned by the Sports Performance Staff. This internship is specifically geared towards working in collegiate athletics; it is HIGHLY recommended that an applicant’s primary career goal be to become a full-time collegiate sports performance/strength and conditioning coach. Lamar (FCS): Lamar University Strength and Conditioning is now accepting applications for Volunteer Interns for the Summer 2024 Semester beginning May 28th, 2024. The Lamar University Strength and Conditioning Internship program provides aspiring interns a base to becoming successful in the strength and conditioning field. A successful candidate will receive hands-on experience with Division I collegiate sports teams including but not limited to football and basketball. We are looking for motivated individuals who have a passion for athletics and sports performance. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with team training sessions and testing. Help introduce new student-athletes to weight room policies and procedures. Set-up and ensure all necessary equipment is ready for the upcoming training session. Ensure proper nutrition is given to student-athletes. Assist with the daily upkeep of all strength & conditioning facilities. Student-Athlete filming for social media accounts. Other duties as assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. Additionally, interns will participate in weekly intern meetings that will help develop core values, programming, exercise technique, and overall coach development. Intern curriculum will conclude with presenting a self-made strength and conditioning program for an assigned team. Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations. A violation of these rules and regulations can lead to disciplinary action including termination. COMPENSATION: This is an UNPAID position, however interns can receive class credits and hours towards certification under an approved CSCCa Mentor. QUALIFICATIONS: Seeking Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or related field; or Master’s degree. Knowledge of strength training, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and cardiovascular conditioning preferred. Experience as a student-athlete is preferred. Demonstrate strong communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to motivate a variety of student-athletes on a daily basis. Demonstrate initiative and leadership qualities on a daily basis. Idaho State: Idaho State University Football Sports Performance is currently seeking volunteers for an UNPAID internship for the Summer of 2024. Qualified individuals will have the opportunity to assist, and learn from a Division-1 (FCS) Football Sports Performance Staff with over 40+ years of combined field experience. All that apply must possess great work ethic, energy and character. As well as exceptional communication and organizational skills. Potential candidates must have a strong desire to progress in the field, as well as the desire to pursue a career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Previous experience as an intern in the collegiate strength and conditioning setting, or coaching experience in athletics is preferred, but not required. Duties include, but are not limited to: setup and breakdown of all football training sessions, consistent facility maintenance, data entry, assisting the full-time staff in all football training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules, participation in summer curriculum, and other duties as assigned by the full-time sports performance staff. The Summer Internship Program is set to start on May 28th, 2024 and will conclude on August 16th, 2024.
