Wisconsin: University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Football Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking highly motivated intern candidates for the 2021 Fall Semester (~August 4th [Can Be Flexible] – ~December 30th). The Wisconsin strength and conditioning internship program is designed to provide the opportunity to work with Division I student-athletes and develop the hands-on skills to start a successful career as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. The experience gained during this non-paid internship will be achieved through: 1) Hard Work, the work load will be high, which will ensure that the individual involved and staff gain equal benefit from the internship, as well as allow ample opportunity for the intern to have a realistic experience of the profession. 2) Administrative duties as assigned by the staff – Administrative duties such as setup and daily maintenance will provide experience in the upkeep of the facility. These duties will increase in intensity as initiative and trust is established between all parties involved. 3) Teach proper techniques for Olympic lifts, power lifts, mobility, core, and speed development exercises. 4) Motivating student-athletes to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of performance. 5) Presentation to Strength Staff at end of semester; Presentation will include a brief overview of assigned S&C related book, findings from two-offsite visits taken during semester, and explaining a 52-Week S&C Program developed for Collegiate Football Athletes. UConn: The University of Connecticut Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for volunteer interns with the football program for Summer 2021. This volunteer position offers Division I experience and training in an educational environment and the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: Assist the Strength and Conditioning staff in the supervision and training of UConn's Division I intercollegiate football program; assist with daily administrative, cleaning and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every training session; and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a strong work-ethic, enthusiasm and a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: CSCCa - SCCC; NSCA -CSCS; USAW and CPR-First Aid certification. University/Department/NCAA Covid-19 Protocols: Successful candidates must adhere to all University/Department/NCAA COVID-19 safety and testing protocols for the duration of the internship. Houston: The University of Houston Strength and Performance Department is seeking highly motivated, hard- working individuals who are in pursuit of experience in the field of human performance. The University of Houston Strength and Performance Department is looking to fill 2021 Summer internship positions. If accepted for this position, you will be expected to start May 31st. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with and observe all athletes that train in the Elmer Redd Strength and Conditioning Center. This is located in the University of Houston Athletics/Alumni center. Daily Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Assisting with supervision, set up, and clean-up of various strength training programs every day. This will also include attending to daily maintenance of the facility. Expected to take part in an internship curriculum that will include exercise science, the art of coaching, educational presentations, debates, homework assignments, and practical application of strength and conditioning knowledge. Qualifications: Be in pursuit of an undergraduate/graduate degree in exercise science or related field. Certified in CPR/First aid. Have a strong desire to be a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach and pursuing CSCCa-SCCC and/or NSCA-CSCS certifications. Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work varied hours. Arkansas Pine Bluff: The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Sports Performance department is seeking four interns for the fall semester of 2021. Purpose: The purpose of a sport performance internship is to assist the Assistant athletic director of sports performance and the assistant director of sports performance in the implementation of the strength and conditioning program for student athletes at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The internship will provide opportunities to work with two certified strength and conditioning coaches and gain experience in coaching student athletes. This internship is voluntary, unpaid, and intern will receive no benefits. Responsibilities of the sport performance intern include but are not limited to: 1. Coaching student athletes in the strength and conditioning program. 2. Assist in the set up and breakdown of strength and conditioning sessions. 3. Assist in the cleaning and maintaining of the strength and conditioning facilities, 4. Taking attendance at training sessions 5. Recording and organizing information 6. Continuing education by reading, learning how to design training programs for : student athletes, demonstrating lifts, communicating with student athletes, athletic trainers, and coaches Qualifications of the sport performance internship are: Individual must be CPR/AED certified, pursuing or have earned their bachelor or master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science and sports medicine, sport management, and are interested in pursuing a career in strength and conditioning, sport coaching, athletic training or physical therapy.
