Indiana: The Indiana University Football Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for 1 VOLUNTEER INTERN position for the SPRING 2025 semester (exact dates TBD). This is an UNPAID position. The ideal candidate should be seeking a career as a strength and conditioning coach. Candidates will be exposed to all facets of an NCAA Division 1 FBS football strength and conditioning program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: hands on experience assisting with the daily operations of the weight room, assisting with athlete nutrition and performance monitoring, completing the educational curriculum, and facility/equipment maintenance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, strong work ethic, great sense of urgency, high level of attention to detail, a desire to learn, and the ability to build relationships with our staff and student-athletes. Candidates should be actively pursuing certification from the NSCA and/or CSCCa. Intern will receive instruction in – and be required to comply with – NCAA regulations and policies. Wyoming: The University of Wyoming Football Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for highly motivated volunteer interns for winter 2025 (January 13th through May). These positions are UNPAID. Successful candidates will work directly with football and assist with all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. Responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: hands on experience assisting the staff in all aspects of the strength and speed programs; assisting with GPS, Force Plates, Velocity Based Training, and other performance tracking systems. Data collection and interpretation; setting up and breaking down of training sessions; assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities; as well as other assigned duties. This internship program emphasizes educating, empowering and utilizing interns in a way that will help them become better coaches that are equipped to best serve student athletes and operate professionally at a high level. Minimum Requirements: a current CPR/AED certification. Ideal candidates possess a strong work ethic, punctuality, high level of attention to detail, desire to learn, and a passion to become a strength and conditioning professional. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field. SCCC, CSCS, USAW certifications or working towards them. Experience as a collegiate athlete. The official start date will be January 13th and end at the beginning of May. Cumberland (NAIA - TN): Cumberland University, located in the Nashville suburbs, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Graduate Assistant Sports Performance Coach. Candidates must have a great work ethic, strong communication skills, and be passionate about continually progressing as a strength and conditioning professional. The position requires certification in First Aid and CPR, and progress towards CSCS and or SCCC and previous coaching experience. Preference will be given to applicants that have more coaching experience, have already obtained one of these certifications and/or the USAW certification, have experience with the Teambuildr training platform, and have collegiate athletic experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the implementation of Football training programs; directing the design and implementation of training programs for 3-4 other assigned sports; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance. The Graduate Assistant position is a 1.5-2 year assignment beginning in Spring 2025 and includes a 100% tuition waiver for all graduate credit hours, on-campus housing fully covered, and a full meal plan fully covered (no monetary stipend). The anticipated start date is January 6, 2025 or January 13, 2025 (can be flexible with start date).
