Stan Drayton will not return at Temple (stan drayton)

Stan Drayon will not return as Temple's head coach, the program announced Sunday.

In his third season with the Owls, Drayton went 9-25 overall and 3-18 in AAC play. The Owls went 3-9 (1-7 AAC) in 2022 and '23, and sit at 3-7 following an 18-15 overtime win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

"I would like to extend my appreciation for Coach Drayton for his commitment to Temple University, our student-athletes, and the football program over the last three years," Temple AD Arthur Johnson said. "Under his direction, our student-athletes have excelled in the classroom, been outstanding members of the community and Coach Drayton has represented the University with a tremendous amount of integrity and class. I wish him and his family well in their future endeavors."

The Temple position was Drayton's first as a head coach. He spent 2017-21 as the associate head coach, running backs coach and run game coordinator at Texas, and built his career as a running backs coach across the SEC, Big Ten and the NFL.

Temple closes its season at UTSA on Friday and at home against North Texas on Nov. 30.
