Sources: Georgia has its new defensive backs coach (Georgia)

Jahmile Addae is set to become Georgia's new defensive backs coach, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday morning. Bruce Feldman first reported the news.

Addae is presently the cornerbacks coach at West Virginia. He spent two years on Neal Brown's WVU staff, having coached defensive backs in 2019. He previously coached defensive backs at Minnesota and Arizona.

Addae played a significant hand in West Virginia's massively improved defense this fall. The Mountaineers leaped from 52nd to fifth in yards per play while managing the season in a coordinator-by-committee approach following Vic Koenning's July dismissal. WVU ranked 24th in pass efficiency defense this fall, an improvement from 85th a year ago and 96th in the year prior to his hiring.

Georgia slipped to 56th in that metric following six straight seasons in the top 40 and a No. 8 ranking in 2019.

He replaces Charlton Warren, who left to become the defensive coordinator at Indiana.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
