Sources: FIU adding former FCS head coach to staff (FCS)

Mike MacIntyre, a veteran college coach previously honored as an PAC-12 Coach of the Year recipient, has added another former head coach to his Florida International staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop that MacIntyre is adding Myers Hendrickson to the FIU staff in an key analyst role.

Hendrickson, with an offensive background but big-picture experience from five full seasons as a head coach, is expected to help FIU on both sides of the ball.

A 31-game winner in just three seasons as head coach at NAIA powerhouse Kansas Wesleyan, Hendrickson then served two years atop the FCS Western Illinois program.

His father, Mark Hendrickson, also had been an Western Illinois head coach for five seasons from 2008-12.

An Atlanta native, Hendrickson also has Southeastern Conference experience from an early-career stint at Auburn, where he served as a defensive quality control coach.

FIU, after back-to-back 4-8 seasons under MacIntyre, opens its 2024 campaign Aug. 31 at Big Ten resident Indiana, which will be launching the Curt Cignetti era atop the Hoosiers program.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports also reported the Hendrickson news.
