Grand Valley State found themselves with an opening on the offensive side of the
To fill the opening, multiple sources tell FootballScoop that the Lakers are adding a coach with significant Michigan roots for a young up-and-coming coach.
UW-River Falls (D-III) offensive line coach Brad Bez is set to become the new offensive line coach for the Lakers.
In Allendale, he lands a job at one of the best small college programs in the country under Scott Wooster, who just wrapped up a very successful first season where they went 11-0 in the regular season and won the ultra-competitive GLIAC.
Earlier this off season, Wooster and the Lakers added former Hawaii offensive coordinator Ian Shoemaker as their new offensive play caller.
Bez was part of a record setting offensive staff with the Falcons that upset #3 Mary Hardin-Baylor 45-22 to open the 2023 season, and was part of an offense that would go on to have two different games where they put up 70+ points.
Last January, Bez was one of about 25 coaches selected to take part in the NCAA / NFL Coaches Academy in Indianapolis.
Before joining the UW River Falls staff, the Okemos, MI native spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Western Michigan, and also spent time on staff at Wayne State (D-II - MI) where he worked with the offensive line. Bez played his college football at the Division III level at Kalamazoo College, where he was a four-year letterman.
He steps in for Brad Rumsey, who spent just over one year with the program after a seven-year run at Olivet (D-III - MI) as their offensive coordinator.
