Mike Goff's tremendous work molding the offensive line at Western Kentucky spoke for itself.
So as Goff transitioned the past few weeks into a new phase of his career, it seemed imminent that he would not be long without a team.
Monday, that gap was filled when San Diego State tabbed the former 12-year NFL veteran to be its offensive line coach.
It's a strong hire for Aztecs head coach Brady Hoke, the former Ball State and Michigan coach who guided San Diego State to an 4-4 ledger in his 2020 return to the school.
Goff's credentials stand out among offensive line coaches at any level. He's got deep ties in California, including work as a high school coach and with four years at the University of Southern California.
Additionally, Goff's WKU offensive lines posted some remarkable numbers during Goff's time on Tyson Helton's Bowling Green staff.
The 2019 and 2020 Hilltoppers' offensive lines were ranked by Pro Football Focus as the top pass-blocking units in college football.
His groups also posted top 20 and top 25 rankings in run blocking, as well as posting three of the top-rated individual performers in Conference-USA last season.
Goff was a star player at the University of Iowa, where Goff also had been linked recently to the Hawkeyes' vacancy along its offensive front.
