Mo Linguist's Buffalo staff is filling up quickly (Featured)

Barring anything crazy happening in the next few months, the hire of Mo Linguist to replace Lance Leipold at Buffalo brought the 2020-21 coaching carousel to a halt.

While many believe that being the last head coach in place would make it tough to build a quality staff, Linguist has made some strong early hires, which includes landing some veteran coordinators.

Over the weekend, word broke of a few new additions to the staff.

Thamel added over the weekend that Georgia quality control coach Rod Ojong is joining the defensive side of the ball. FootballScoop has confirmed that Ojong, the former Furman (FCS - SC) and Austin Peay (FCS - TN) assistant has accepted the job. It will be his first full-time position at the FBS level after also previously serving in support staff roles at North Carolina and Memphis.

Also joining the staff are UMass defensive tackles coach Cedrick Douglas, and former Marshall receivers coach Dallas Baker. Douglas will coach the defensive line and serve as run game coordinator on the defensive side of the ball and previously worked as a graduate assistant for Bulls defensive coordinator Joe Cauthen at Arkansas State.

On the offensive side of the ball, Baker (a former Florida wide receiver who was first-team all SEC in 2006 and was on the Gators national title team in 2007) will work with the receivers after helping Marshall go 7-3 last fall.

Those hires join the additions of Shane Montgomery (OC), Mike Daniels (RBs / Recruiting Coordinator) and Chris White (STC) - all of whom we shared last week.

Sources tell FootballScoop Linguist plans to promote Ron Whitcomb to tight ends coach. Whitcomb, the long-time quarterbacks coach at Old Dominion, spent last season as an analyst on Lance Leipold's staff.

With a few positions yet to fill, and while most of these have yet to be officially announced, Linguist has built a strong staff. Here's who they are, so far.

Stay tuned to The Scoop, as we'll have more info on the Buffalo staff as roles are solidified.
