Nick Rolovich returning to coaching (Nick Rolovich)

For the first time since Oct. 18, 2021, Nick Rolovich is officially back in coaching.

That specific date was the day Rolovich, then Washington State's head coach, was fired along with defensive tackles coach Ricky Logo, cornerbacks coach John Richardson, quarterbacks coach Craig Stutzmann and offensive line coach Mark Weber, was fired for refusing to comply with the state of Washington's COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Rolovich has not worked in college football since. He was briefly hired as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL, but the team folded as part of the XFL/USFL merger.

And so Rolovich waited for the day to come that he would return to big-time coaching. That day turned out to be Friday, as Cal announced him as a senior offensive assistant for the team.

The Golden Bears hired former Boise State and Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin as its next offensive coordinator earlier this week, and Rolovich will bring six years of head coaching experience to the staff as well. He went 28-27 from 2016-19 at Hawaii before landing the Washington State job in 2020.

Prior to head coaching, Rolovich coached quarterbacks and/or served as offensive coordinator at City College of San Francisco, Hawaii and Nevada.
