After signing a new contract last spring, Mike Locksley led the Terps to an eight-win season last fall and the school is now reportedly inking him to an amended contract.
Ross Dellenger of SI shares that Locksley has agreed to a contract amendment that wi increase his salary to $6.1 million per year over the course of his five-year contract. The new deal starts at $5.5 million and increases $300k each year through 2027, the report adds.
The money marks a significant raise for Locks, who was making $4 million annually on the deal he signed last spring.
Locksley can earn a 1-year extension if the Terps win at least seven games this season.
Entering this fall, Locksley has the program trending upward and is 21-28 overall.
After a 3-win season in 2019, Locksley and the Terps won just 2 games in the COVID 2020 season, but have rebounded to win 15 games over the last two seasons.
The Terps will open the season against Towson, Charlotte, and Maryland at home before hitting the road to take on Michigan State at the end of September. The rest of their schedule includes home games against Indiana, Illinois, Penn State, and Michigan with road trips to Ohio State, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Rutgers.
