Before joining Mario Cristobal's staff at Miami, 'Canes legend Alonzo Highsmith spent over a decade in various NFL roles.
Now, according to multiple reports today, he's set to head back to the league.
Highsmith is set to leave Coral Gables for a front office job with the New England Patriots, multiple reports share.
He joined Cristobal and the Miami staff in a GM role for the program back in 2022.
The job in Foxborough marks a return to the NFL after previously serving in front office roles with the Packers, Browns and Seahawks.
A former top three pick in the 1987 NFL Draft coming out of Miami at running back, Highsmith spent 1987-92 in the NFL with the Oilers, Cowboys and Bucs before stepping away from the game due to knee issues.
He would land his first role in the NFL as the senior personnel executive for the Packers from 2012-17 before brief stops in Cleveland (VP of player personnel) and Seahawks (senior personnel executive).
In New England, he will join the new regime led by first-time head coach Jerod Mayo, who steps into big shoes to be filled by the departure of Bill Belichick.
