Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen is reportedly interviewing for a return to the NFL.
Coen, who left his post as assistant quarterbacks coach with the Rams in 2021 for an opportunity to be the offensive coordinator at Kentucky, spent one successful season in Lexington revamping the Wildcats offense under Mark Stoops.
He left after that one season for a return to the Rams as offensive coordinator before Stoops welcomed him back to his previous role prior to the 2023 season.
Now, he's interviewing with the Bucs for a potential return to the NFL, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The Bucs seem to be targeting coaches who have worked with quarterback Baker Mayfield previously, as Coen becomes the latest to interview with such a background.
Coen was the offensive coordinator for Sean McVay and the Rams for one season when Mayfield was claimed off waivers to play the final five games of the 2022 season.
Per multiple reports over the last week or so, the Bucs also plan to interview Rams passing game specialist Jake Peetz, who was also on the Rams staff at the time Mayfield was in LA and have already talked with former Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, who also coached Mayfield in Cleveland as well as some internal candidates as well.
Mayfield is coming off a breakout season under Dave Canales, who left for his first head coaching opportunity with the Carolina Panthers.
