Jerry Kill's coaching journey has seen him turn around a number of programs, winning conference and divisional titles, and revitalize a Big Ten program at Minnesota before stepping away due to health issues.
After a short stint as the interim head coach at TCU, Kill decided to take on the challenge of turning around the program at New Mexico State - a program that had won just three games in the two combined season prior to his arrival and someplace that had played in just four bowl games in their history with their last appearance coming in 2017.
So after an impressive one-year turnaround had them sitting at 6-6 heading into their Quick Lane Bowl game back in December, Kill told his team that if they found a way to win the bowl game, he'd get his first tattoo to commemorate the special Aggies squad.
When his Aggies were able to get a 24-19 win over Bowling Green in that game, Kill knew he'd have to pay up, and yesterday that day came.
He could have got a small tat to appease the bet, but instead Kill went large. Quite large in fact.
As someone who once put my beard on the line for an undefeated season coming off a 1-win season, I've got mad respect for coach Kill's commitment here.
Haters are going to say it's fake, but that ink looks pretty darn real to me.
"You win this bowl game, I respect this team so much and what you’ve done, I’ll get a tattoo on my arm."@NMStateFootball HC Jerry Kill followed through with a bet he made with his team in the week leading up to the Quick Lane Bowl last December.
