Campbell set to hire former NFL defensive end as D-line coach (Campbell Football)

Campbell has hired former NFL defensive end Larry Hart as its defensive line coach, sources confirmed to FootballScoop on Wednesday. The news was first reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Hart had joined Louisiana's staff as a pass rush specialist in March, and previously served as an analyst at Houston and the outside linebackers coach at South Alabama.

Hart's playing career began as a defensive end at Holmes Community College in Mississippi. He was a two-time all-state selection at the juco level, then a two-time FCS All-American at Central Arkansas. Twice named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Hart earned a spot on the Southland's All-2000s Team.

Selected in the fifth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2010, Hart played for the Jags, Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders, and concluded his playing career in 2012 as a member of the Virginia Destroyers of the defunct United Football League.

Hart jumped into coaching as a GA at Arkansas State in 2014. He coached at both his alma maters, Holmes CC and Central Arkansas, before joining the South Alabama staff in 2018.

Braxton Harris was named the Camels' new head coach on Jan. 2.
