Alabama just shared perhaps the strongest recruiting graphic of all time

News broke earlier this morning that former Crimson Tide defensive back Patrick Surtain signed a hefty extension with the Denver Broncos.

Denver and the former Tide standout agreed to a four-year $96 million extension that includes a whopping $77.5 million guaranteed. Those figures cement him as the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history at just 24-years old.

Marlon Humphrey and Trevon Diggs (also both former Tide products) also rank among the top seven paid defensive backs in the NFL as well, both making over $19 million per year.

Just this off season alone, Crimson Tide players hit an unbelievable milestone of $1 billion in offseason NFL contracts.

Billion. With a "B." That's nine zeros.

It's hard for the human mind to grasp just how much 1 billion is, so here's some facts to help give it some perspective:

  • 1 billion seconds = 31.71 years
  • 1 billion steps = walking around the equator 15.28 times.
  • 1 billion pieces of paper = stack of paper 83 feet, 4 inches tall (or as tall as an 8 story building)
  • 1 billion pennies stacked up = stack 870 miles high (or 158x the height of Mount Everest)

It's not a stretch at all to say that might be the strongest recruiting graphic ever created.
