It's an unprecedented time to be a fan of Ferris State football.
The program captured their first national title in 2021, and followed that up with a repeat national title this last fall.
Winning a natty is always impressive, but Ferris has managed to outscore their opponents (Valdosta State and Colorado School of Mines) 99-31 in those two games for all the marbles.
Then, in March the NCAA announced an unprecedented punishment for head coach Tony Annese, suspending him for, not their first game of the 2023 season, but their first playoff game.
Today, the program announced another unprecedented moment.
The new football powerhouse, located in modest Big Rapids, MI have received an invite to the White House.
According to the official Ferris State Twitter, the invite is believed to be the first D-II team ever to earn an invite to the White House to visit the President.
Recent programs to win back-to-back national titles at the Division II level since 2000 include Northwest Missouri State (2015-16), and Grand Valley State twice (2005-06 and 2002-03).
The tweet adds that a "group of team representatives" from the team will visit the nation's capital on Monday, June 12.
